BOSSMAN FOREVER
~In memory of a dear friend~
Skippa Boss Star aka "Boss"
Foaled April 10th 1989 a sorrel stud colt with a star, stripe, snip and one hind sock was out of a bay AQHA mare Bosses Patty Kay and by a sorrel AQHA stallion Skippa Tender.
Im sure no one ever knew when that sorrel stud colt was born he would in his lifetime change a girl's heart and soul forever...
Boss was known by a few names including "SKIPPY" & "STAR" before being named Boss by Linda Chatterton in 1994, after being bought at an Ohio Auction for $2000.00. "Boss" was a much better fit. He wasn't pushy, but a tall, strong, beautiful Gelding whom shined in the sun like a Gem. He was noble, and wise you could see it in his eye. The Horse knew he was special, but never was vein about it.
Through out his life Boss was a "Jack of all trades, but a master of none" He excelled at Huntseat under saddle but was open and willing to try anything someone was goaled to teach him. He and Kara competed in Showmanship, Halter, English Eq & Pleasure, Western Horsemanship & Pleasure, Reining, Eng-West Riding, Driving and Jumping.

In 2006 after suffering heat stroke, Boss foundered leaving him pasture sound only! Long time family friend Linda chatterton cared for Boss during his chronic founder until he was returned to Kara June of 2008, after being leased as a trail horse. "When i picked Boss up that hot June day I wasnt sure he would remeber me" Kara states. He did remeber her and she him, they picked right up where they had left off 3 years earlier when leased out.
He had the same personality that indeared himself to everyone. he was the same on the inside, he had the same heart and passion for life, however his body was failing him. he was sore, and had bad days. some mornings boss had to be encourgaed to come out of his run-in to eat. Some days he would fool you and run around like nothing was wrong-those where rare days.
The decision to put a horse to sleep is a heavy issue to keep straight, especially when it is a matter of the heart. Kara cried offen when even the thought of the idea crossed her mind. In the end she knew what was right for Boss and she knew that letting him go was a far better choice than keeping him in the physical state he was in. With the support of Jeremy her husband and girl friend April, it was decided to put Boss to rest and have him creamated at MSU.
On December 3rd 2008, Boss was finally laid to rest and freed from his disabled body and pain. Allowed to cross the Rainbow bridge. "Boss will be missed, but his memory lives on in the minds and hearts of the people and other animals who knew him, We will always have our stories, and thoughts of him." ~This Hooves for you Bossman, Your're one in a million!
